As a young adult cancer survivor, you've been through
a lot! As a result, you are wiser and stronger today.
To make your future as healthy as possible, know about
your long-term risks and get skills to take action.

SURVIVOR ALERT offers information, links to resources, and recommendations for action for young adult cancer survivors and the health professionals who treat them. Our message is simple: Know about survivorship issues and do the right things to stay as healthy as possible. Want to do an event to spread this important message to other survivors? Check out our toolkit and free materials!

SURVIVOR ALERT began as an outreach effort of A Lion in the House, a documentary on childhood cancer that aired on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) stations in June 2006. This much-acclaimed series by Steve Bognar and Julia Reichert offers a groundbreaking view of the childhood cancer experience, including late effects and the critical role of lifelong follow up. A Lion in the House book and DVD and educational modules can now be ordered.

We encourage health professionals, survivors, advocates and others interested in cancer survivorship to get involved with planning an awareness event for young adult cancer survivors in their communties. Events can be held in conjunction with local activities, such as the opening of a new cancer center, or with cancer observances, such as National Cancer Survivors Day or National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week. See our comprehensive Event Toolkit and other resources at Plan An Event.

SURVIVOR ALERT is based at A Lion in the House, Yellow Springs, Ohio.
